Diana Sudyka (pronounced soo-dee-kah) is a Chicago-based artist and children's book illustrator. As a child she was- and still is - the one looking under logs for snails; bugs; and salamanders. Her gouache; watercolor and ink paintings' subject matter and aesthetic choices are inspired by a passion for nature and science; as well as a love for various folk art traditions When not working; she gets outdoors to hike forests and prairies with her family and sometimes volunteers in the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History bird lab.
