The powerful M12 self-propelled gun is the result of adapting the chassis of the popular M3 Lee medium tank to handle a 155 mm gun. The design process proved long and lasted from 1941 to 1944. In the meantime; the produced test units were repeatedly rebuilt. Eventually; at the end of July 1944; the M12 self-propelled cannons were delivered to the western front. Interestingly; the Cargo Carrier M30 was also designed at the same time. It was a version of M12 without a cannon; serving as an ammunition carrier. For each M12 self-propelled cannon there was one M30 ammunition carrier; which also carried part of the crew operating the M12 cannon. M30 conveyors did not have a blade at the back of the hull stabilizing the vehicle during shooting. M12 self-propelled cannons were used mainly to support the manoeuvring operations of armoured troops; combat targets of tactical importance; support infantry fire and prepare artillery in the direction of impacts.
From the world of COBI comes a model containing as many as 560 blocks that will allow you to faithfully reproduce heavy M12 self-propelled gun of 155 mm caliber. The set includes no stickers at all. The model comes with printed blocks. The prints perfectly imitate elements of the vehicle's equipment; details and signs from the war period. The set includes a figure of an American soldier and a unique figure of the US Army (Military Police) equipped with a baton. In the box you will also find accessories in the form of bullets and flexible barbed wires; which is a first for COBI. Thoughtful construction; movable elements and working caterpillars ensure full playability as well as being a faithful model to the real vehicle
M12 GMC is an ideal element for building historical scenes and dioramas recreating the western European front in 1944. M12 cannons took part in battles in Normandy; the Battle of Falaise; breaking through the Siegfried Line and conquering the Colony.
The cannon is also an ideal addition to the COBI Battle Game Strategy Session. In the box comes a card together with vehicle statistics to allow you to play the game.
This amazing block set from COBI not only makes a fantastic model to build and put on show but would be a perfect toy for any child who likes construction blocks or military history.
